Laying the Groundwork for Rooted Academy

This week has been a big step forward in turning the idea of Rooted Academy from a dream into something real and tangible. Rooted Academy is a developing educational initiative focused on practical learning, creativity, and personal growth, designed to help people build strong roots in both skill and character. It’s still in the early stages, but each week the vision is getting clearer and more focused.

Shaping the Curriculum and Vision

A major focus over the past few days has been developing the curriculum for Rooted Academy. I’ve been outlining what learners should walk away with—real skills they can use, confidence in their abilities, and a sense of purpose in their work and creativity. Lessons are being sketched out to be hands-on and grounded, not just theoretical or abstract.

Along with that, I’m also refining how the learning journey will flow: what foundational topics come first, how deeper skills build on those, and how to weave in reflection, creativity, and real-life application. It’s still a work in progress, but the framework is starting to feel cohesive and aligned with the heart behind the Academy.

Building a Thoughtful Business Plan

Behind the scenes, a business plan is also taking shape to support Rooted Academy in a sustainable way. I’ve been mapping out who the Academy is for, how it will serve them, and what kind of structure it needs to function well. This includes thinking through pricing, program formats, and the practical logistics that make a vision actually work in real life.

This planning phase may not be glamorous, but it matters. It’s helping me clarify what needs to be built now, what can grow over time, and how to steward resources wisely while staying true to the mission.

Reaching Out to Industry Connections

Another important part of this week has been reconnecting with former coworkers and peers in the industry. I’ve been sharing the early vision for Rooted Academy, asking for honest feedback, and listening to their experiences and insights. These conversations have been encouraging and grounding—reminding me of the real needs that exist and how much space there is for thoughtful, practical education.

Some of these connections may turn into partnerships, collaborations, or simply trusted voices to check in with along the way. Either way, it’s a reminder that this journey doesn’t have to be walked alone.

Investing in The Rock Flock’s Timeless Treasures

On the creative side, I’ve also been investing in The Rock Flock’s Timeless Treasures, my creative studio centered around flipped vintage finds and original styling. This week’s tangible step was purchasing a mannequin for the studio.

It might sound small, but this mannequin represents a meaningful upgrade in how pieces can be presented and experienced. It will allow me to display curated outfits more clearly, experiment with layered looks, and better showcase the character and story behind each vintage find. It also opens the door for crafting more unique designs and styling concepts that align with the creative, hands-on spirit that will also shape Rooted Academy.

How the Pieces Connect

What’s exciting is how all of this ties together. The work on curriculum and business planning is building the bones of Rooted Academy, while the creative studio offers a living, breathing space to experiment with design, storytelling, and presentation. The same values—intentionality, creativity, and real-world impact—are running through both.

This week felt like another step toward alignment: strengthening the educational vision, deepening relationships, and investing in the tools that help ideas show up beautifully in the world. Rooted Academy is still forming, but the roots are going deeper every week.
